Willow Tree tab – Complete

I’d like to announce to the interwebs that the Willow Tree tablature by Chad VanGaalen is complete. I did it in a week as a part of a 1week1project endeavor. If you’d like find out more on what went into the tab, head over there for a concluding blog post.

Enjoy!

Your site is so cool! My son is just learning banjo and really wants to play People are Strange. Any ideas on where to find the tabs?

    Thanks!

This site is so boss. I’ve been trying to pick up Willow Tree for ages but I could never get the tuning and picking right. Your tab has releived my pain, but now that the tab is laid out, my girlfriend will be the one to suffer while I work on my singing.

Thanks for the awesome tab work.

I’m confused. I am a brand new banjo owner, stumbled on this site, and was glad it contained many songs I love, especially this one. But I have a five-string, and it looks like Chad has a four string? So can I still play it? Do I just tune my fourth string to G? I am just unsure about all this, as no one in my family plays banjo.

thought I’d give this tab a try. It’s tough getting the banjo in tune for this. Also, as soon as i started it seems off. To me it sounds like some of the notes are a half step off from the video.

Every note besides the open strings appears to be one semi-tone higher than it should be. Am I crazy? How could this happen?

Forgive me. It is clear that you just have to capo the first fret and then play the tab normally. (Where the eighth fret really is the eighth not the ninth) Thank you for the tab!

I have been playing banjo, on and off, for 4 years now. I love indie/alternative music and also loved to play it. When I first got my banjo there weren't any tabs out there for Sufjan or Iron and Wine, so I tried to figure them out. Thus, the birth of alternativebanjo.
